Scar Retexturing or “Collagen Induction Therapy” causes the scars to “re-heal,” changing the appearance of so it blends nicely with the surrounding skin and softened. This procedure reduces the scars’ appearance, colour, tissue thickness and consistency. When a particularly large scar is worked on, multiple sessions will be required and the scar may appear pink for a few weeks as it is “re-healing” in it’s revised state. This can be a finishing touch to surgery, creating more flexibility, reducing tightness and changing the colour.
If you are considering this treatment, photos must be sent in advance of booking this service to ensure you are a good candidate and to get a quote. For notes on sending photos, click here.
Consultations are free and are reserved for those that have sent photos already, have been deemed to be good candidates and want to come in to discuss in person as well.
Are any of the scars “raised?” Or are they flat and flush with the skin? What is the approximate size of the scar?
Every appointment has a built-in consultation and you approve your shape and colour before we start.
Follow up appointments vary in timing depending on your skin type and how long your skin and ink take to “settle.” Ideally we can check in and see how you are progressing at the 8 week mark to assess when you could return for subsequent appointments.
I understand that the price of my procedure includes 1 appointment only. These services can require a few sessions (depending on your service) to ensure your results are optimal. Your follow up sessions build off of your healed results, layering your colouring to keep it natural looking, and any adjustments are made if needed.
